Technology companies nowadays have become very strict when it comes to selecting the right people to fill in the companies’ job vacancies. With competition in the industry growing tougher as time passes, companies want employees who are capable enough to maintain the company’s productivity and foothold on the market. Competition between companies has even reached a level where companies offer great compensation to prospective employees.

Unfortunately for tech firms, however, looking for the right employees is a long, tedious and expensive process. Doing the employee selection process in-house has resulted in companies having overstaffed recruitment teams. Such overstaffing leads to expenses that could have been avoided if things are only being done efficiently.

With current economic realities now catching up with them, technology companies are now finding ways to cut down on the costs of screening job applicants. Many of these companies are choosing to outsource the initial recruitment stage to third-party agencies. These agencies are often called technical staffing companies or, more informally, headhunters.

The role of a technical staffing company is to provide consultancy services to technology companies. Services range from taking over the initial screening process from the client to even providing employees to the client. Companies only have to pay these headhunters a consultancy and service fee, something that is more affordable than operating an in-house recruitment team.

A technical staffing company only handles the initial screening of applicants. This means that final screening will still be completed by the technology firms. This saves companies from having to deal with applicants who don’t have the right qualifications. The headhunter’s role will be to pre-select the list of job applicants through a series of exams, interviews, and technical tests until the list is narrowed down to applicants who qualify for the final screening by the employers.

The process of screening hundreds of promising job applicants to fill in various positions in tech firms has become more efficient, thanks to outsourcing. The role being played by a technical staffing company has provided companies a way to use financial resources and manpower more efficiently. Current economic realities, no matter how unfortunate they seem, do open up new opportunities for both employers and employees.
